When it comes to choosing a TV package price is often a huge factor in the decision-making process.

So, when Freeview came onto the scene in 2002, it was a no-brainer for tonnes of UK residents to take them up on their offer of free TV channels.

The digital TV service comes built-in to many Smart TVs today, and if you’re the owner of a TV without Freeview capabilities, then you can always purchase a Freeview box to join in with all the free telly viewing.

All the most-watched UK channels are available via Freeview, but some viewers have complained of the channels being mixed up in 2020. So, let’s take a look at what’s going on with the Freeview channels.

My Freeview are channels mixed up

If you’ve recently noticed that your Freeview channels are mixed up – i.e. no longer in chronological order – then don’t panic.

Many people experience this issue from time to time. The first thing to attempt is to retune the TV again. See below how to retune your system.

Failing that, we’d advise turning the whole television system off at the wall, waiting 30 seconds to one minute, and turning everything back on again.

Another avenue to go down would be resetting your telly to its factory settings. Details on how to do this would be specific to your TV make and model, so please follow the manufacturers instructions on a factory reset.

If your channels are still mixed up, please give us a call on 0800 433 7963. If you are missing some of your usual Freeview channels then please see

Freeview: How to retune

To retune your TV with built-in Freeview you’ll need the remote control. If you have any issues with tuning or need to carry out a manual retune contact Digi Helpdesk and we can assist you with this.

  1. First off, grab your remote control.
  2. Now, turn on your Set Top box or Freeview television, select the digital mode by pressing ‘DTV’ on the remote control.
  3. Next, access the menu by pressing ‘menu’ on the remote, you should see an icon saying ‘installation’, this is normally represented by a toolbox or spanner icon.
  4. The options displayed may vary, depending on the model of TV you own, but you now need to find the ‘retune option’.
  5. Your TV will now prompt you to delete all your channels, press ‘OK’.
  6. Now the Freeview channel installation can begin.
  7. Your television will shut down and restart, this may take around one minute.
