What is Sky Q error code 60-1? Is there a fix for the Sky Go glitch?

0

Sky TV first launched in 1994 and over the last 26 years, it has become so big that over 23 million people subscribe to the service in the UK.

In more recent years, Sky brought out its on-the-move TV service – Sky Go. In-keeping with the reality of everyone’s very mobile modern-day lives, Sky Go means that all our favourite TV shows, from Hitmen to Dynamo: Beyond Belief, can be watched wherever we are.

All is usually well for Sky Go users until an error code such as Sky Q error code 60-1 appears. When faced with an error code, it can be confusing. Often, comprehensive home entertainment systems are great, but when they don’t work, ‘frustrating’ would be an understatement.

What is Sky Q error code 60-1?

The message that often pops up including error code 60-1 reads: “An unknown error occurred, please try again. Error code: 60–1.”

As Sky have said themselves, this is an “unknown” error and therefore it’s difficult to determine exactly what causes error code 60-1.

There is, thankfully, a way to get things working again if you do experience this error code, though.

Is there a fix for Sky Go error code 60-1?

Yes. The fix will differ depending on which type of device you are using to watch Sky Go.

Note that Sky Go does not support VPN or Ad Blockers, so if you are using either of these things on your device, then you’ll need to turn them off.

  • If you haven’t already, try closing the Sky Go app and restarting. This simple solution sometimes fixes the error code.
  • Uninstall the Sky Go app completely. Re-install the app from the relevant app store. Always make sure that you’re running the latest version of the app.
  • Try creating a new Sky ID. Then log into the app using your new details.

What about the Sky Q system?

If you’re playing content which is store on your Sky Q box, it may be worth turning the box off. Unplug at the wall, wait around five minutes, then plug the box back in. The box should now reboot. Try opening Sky Go again on your mobile device.

Alternatively, the issue may lie with your internet connection. Shut off the internet hub. Unplug at the mains, wait a few minutes, then plug the router back in. It should take a few moments to initialise. Then open the Sky Go app again.
