What is YouView?

Launching back in 2012, YouView was introduced and quickly became a competitor of Freeview, Freesat and more.

In recent years, YouView has struck big deals with BT and TalkTalk to offer the service to their customers.

Freeview currently offers over 70 channels as well as on-demand content for viewers. So, it’s important that Youview keeps adding platforms such as Britbox so it can compete with the amount of content required to keep viewers satisfied.

Youview currently offers many of the same channels that Freeview does, but doesn’t offer all of the channels in the Freeview range.

What is BritBox?

A collaboration between two of the most well-known media corporations in the UK, the BBC and ITV, has been a big success.

They’ve pulled together all the best UK series and films from the last 20 years onto one platform.

Originally content came solely from BBC and ITV. But over time Britbox has added much more content coming from the likes of Channel 4 and Film4, Channel 5 and Comedy Central UK.

BritBox was launched in 2019 in the UK after some early success in Canada.
