Launched in 2016, Sky Qis a set top box that is primarily a revamped version of Sky+ and Sky+ HD. Offering content on demand, conventional television and third-party services, it has been called the ultimate “multimedia platform”.

What to do if Sky Q Recorded Programs Dashboard is Blank?

Sometimes the Sky Q recorded program dashboard appears blank. You can see the outlines of the downloaded content but not the pictures. Restarting your Sky Q set-top box has shown to solve the problem.

Turn off your Sky Q box and wait for around 10 minutes. Turn it back on and the screen would not be blank anymore.

If that does not work, you can follow the given steps:

  • On the Sky Q remote, press the standby button
  • Switch off the Sky Q set-top box
  • Make sure all lights on the device are turned off
  • Check if the cables are connected properly
  • Plug in your Sky Q box and turn it on
  • After the instructions displayed on the screen disappear, press Home button on the Sky Q remote

This will most likely solve the problem of the blank screen. However, it is to note that the problem will be fixed for new recordings only. All your current recording will stay the same.

If it still does not work, make sure your Sky Q box is up to date. You can do that by the following steps:

  • Switch off the Sky Q top box at the mains
  • Press the standby button on the Sky Q remote
  • Turn on the box at the mains
  • Keep pressing the standby button on the remote until red and amber lights start flickering in the front panel of the box
  • This will begin the software update process

The update process can take up to 15 minutes. Once the process is complete a red light will appear, and the Sky Q box will restart. After the instructions on the screen disappear, press the home button on the Sky Q remote to turn on the Sky Q box.
