If your Tinder won’t work on your home wifi, there are a few possible outcomes as to why this may be. Whether your issue is an error message, matches not loading, the site crashing or another error, Tinder not being able to work on your home wifi is not ideal. With this being said, here are some common issues and how to troubleshoot these:

You’re not connected properly

If you’re attempting to use Tinder and it doesn’t appear to be doing anything, it may be that you’re not connected correctly. When signing up for public wifi, there is usually a pop-up page which you need to sign up to/login. If you don’t do this, the wifi will not work. If you’re not trying to connect to public wifi but your phone data instead, make sure you disconnect and reconnect your data and then see if it works, as this will reboot any existing connections.

Your wifi is down

To figure out if your router is the problem, please reboot your router at the wall, allow 2 minutes before turning it back on, then allow 5 minutes for everything to load up. If you’re still having issues with your wifi, it may be a problem with the wires or the router itself.

If your wifi does not restart, you may need an engineer to come out to look at the box.

Adult block on your router

If you or your parents have set up an adult block on your router, this may impact Tinder. However, the chances are unlikely that this would also block Tinder. There is still a possibility. In the case this may be the issue, reach out to the service provider to get their take on this.

Using a banned IP

Suppose you’re a regular Tinder user who breaks the rules. Your account may get blocked. By creating a new account, you can access Tinder again. However, if you’re not using an IP location changer, the account may get pointed straight back to you.

Tinder might be down.

Finally, if none of the above applies, do check online to see if Tinder is down. There is a range of websites you can use to find out this information. If you’re unsure where to check, use Is It Down Right Now to find out.

Why won’t my Tinder work at university

In some places, the wifi provider can advise the service provider to block certain sites. Tinder is likely to be blocked in a university due to being distracting to students. Coffee shops, shopping centers and schools are also known to block dating sites.

Can Tinder be used on mobile data?

Yes, you can use Tinder on mobile data, as well as a hotspot. If you’re looking to use Tinder on the go or you’re unable to go on wifi, you can switch to your mobile data and use Tinder as you usually would.

Can I get Tinder U in the UK?

Unfortunately, Tinder University (U) is only available in America currently and can only be used if you’re on campus. Although Tinder has plans to bring this college-based dating site to the UK, there appears to be a delay with this. There are plenty of dating sites accessible in the UK aside from Tinder, such as OkCupid, Hinge and Bumble.

Cannot connect to Tinder unless on Wifi iPhone

If you are experiencing issues accessing Tinder unless you’re on wifi on an iPhone, this may be due to the settings. With iPhone, you can stop apps from using mobile data and make it so they can only use wifi. To find out if you have this setting enabled and how to turn it off, follow the below steps for more information:

  • Click on settings > mobile data > scroll down to the list of apps
  • Find the app you are looking for, and toggle on or off depending on what it is set as.
  • You can also find out how much data each app uses so you can choose whether you enable it.

Mobile data not working with Tinder.

If you’re experiencing Tinder not working with wifi on your phone or another device, ensure that your data is enabled and that you still have data within your package as both of these issues can lead to a no internet page. Then when using wifi, this will no longer be an issue.

If you’re still experiencing Tinder won’t work on wifi issues, please get in touch, and we’d be more than happy to assist further.
