The Irishman is about to hit streaming service Netflix in 2019 and we can’t wait.
With a big name cast including Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, Netflix has gone all-out for this gangster film.
The Irishman is said to have been in the making for 20 years because the director couldn’t get approval by big Hollywood directors.
But, Netflix liked the film so much that they forked out a lot of money, £116 million to be exact, and told Martin Scorsese to make a masterpiece.
The three and a half hour epic is set to become a classic and, more than likely, one of the biggest films of the year.
The backstory of The Irishman
The whole film is based on a true story – the life of Frank Sheeran linked to the Bufalino mafia family.
Frank Sheeran was born in 1920 and served in WWII before becoming a hitman.
He was said to have very deep ties with the mafia and responsible for hundreds of heinous crimes.
He died from cancer in 2oo3 and admitted to his involvement in some of his crimes such as the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa.
Could this be Netflix’s biggest movie to date?
Netflix doesn’t often have cinematic releases but The Irishman will be shown in a limited capacity from November 8th.
You can also sign up for a 30-day-free-trial with Netflix and watch The Irishman on November 27th here.
A deal is said to have been struck with Altitude film distribution which allows Everyman cinemas to show it in the UK.
With it being such a big film, and experts expecting it to be a hit, Netflix has come under fire by cinemas for not allowing them to show it.
When is The Irishman’s Netflix release date?
The Irishman has a Netflix release date of November 27th 2019 in the United Kingdom.
However, if you want to see the film earlier then you’re in luck as it’s hitting UK cinemas on November 8th 2019!
And The Irishman isn’t the only thing coming to the streaming giant in November. Plus, you might as well make the most of that free trial, after all.
The End Of The F***cking World season 2 is making its hotly anticipated debut come November 5th 2019.
Additionally, an all-round favourite, The Crown season 3, comes out. The third series is likely to have viewers glued to their screens when November 17th rolls around.
