Mobile phones are essential to many of us in the 21st century. Most people need to communicate on the move.
Since 2017, in the UK, EE has built up to having seventy-nine million subscribers and counting.
Mobile phone contracts are not the only thing that EE offer, they also provide broadband to connect to the internet.
EE is the first mobile service provider to switch over its service to the 5G network throughout the United Kingdom in the 2020 rollout.
For many different reasons, people often want to change their service provider.
When switching to an EE service to a SIM-only phone, it could lead to a message showing ‘You are not subscribed to a mobile data service’. Here’s what to do if you see this message.
What does EE do?
EE is one of the most advanced digital communications companies in Britain.
They are the largest mobile network because they cover ninety per cent of the UK geography and can provide the network to ninety-nine per cent of the population.
They carry an incredible one hundred and fifty million of those calls per day.
EE was the first mobile network to bring 4G to the UK and are the largest network in terms of coverage.
“You are not subscribed to a mobile data service” EE message – What to do
This message usually occurs in SIM-only iPhones.
When you change your mobile network you will receive a new SIM card, which then goes into an existing iPhone.
Sometimes, the SIM-only iPhones have existing profiles from a previous network already installed on the phone.
To locate and remove the profiles, do this on your iPhone:
- Go to Settings > General > Profiles.
- If there are any profiles showing, select each one individually and select the ‘Remove Profile’ option in red.
Doing this should allow the EE network to connect to the mobile data service and your iPhone should no longer show the error message anymore.
Failing that, your phone may be locked to a particular network which will make it difficult to connect to any other network.
Make and take your EE calls without getting in the way of your high score 🎮 thanks to Alexa.

Is it legal to unlock an iPhone?
The need to unlock an iPhone comes when you have purchased a SIM card from a network separate to the network the phone originally came with.
This usually happens when someone’s mobile contract ends and they want to change their network to a different provider.
It is legal to unlock an iPhone if the phone has come without a subscription service already in place. Or, you can legally unlock an iPhone if the contract with your current provider has ended.
If you are unsure about whether you can unlock your phone, it is best to contact your existing contract provider to find out when it is safe to do so.
